Took a chance off to catch the Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice in action tonight. Its 1/2 hr walk to and fro to Avenue de Brancolar from my place to the Conservatiore Region De Nice but the walk was certainly worth it.
Tonight on the programme booklet
Lutoslawski - La Petite Suite, not my favourite piece as it is actually made up of many small and short movements
Schumann - Concerto pour violon en re mineur ( Violin Concerto in D Minor). I tell u the violinist is DAMN ZAI wooohooo. He performed an extra piece as an encore performance and even though i dont know the title of the piece (he's German and i think its either his french cmi or my ears cmi) its still superB!
Beethoven - Symphonie n^6 en fa majeur, op 68, "Pastorale" ( Symphony No. 6 in F Major, op 68 "Pastoral" )As always Beethoven always deliver and this piece was really majestic, combined with the conducteur who was darn Dramatic the piece was delivered seamless
Overall, FANTASTIQUE!!! why cant our SSO play like them haha. But most of the players of the orchestre are really old say at least 50? as compared to that of SSO. And for some weird reason they're all quite big size. First time seeing 2 ladies leading the Cielo group and their size says it all hees
p.s. Oh and i learnt that in France, they dont do musical scales as C D E F rather they do something call the Solfege (where notes are replaced by Do Re Mi Fa) apparently it seems as though French belongs to one of the many Romance Languages and so they prefer to sing it rather than to name it like in English, coolsz
